Career Highlights
* Along with Prof. Kenneth Rarey, originated the West Liberty State College Regional Science Fair and for 30 years
acted as Director of the Science Fair Program.
* Restructured the Physics degree (B.S.) and the Physics Teaching degree (A.B.) at West Liberty State College to
conform with American Institute of Physics guidelines. Designed physics laboratory and classroom facilities for
the new center-section of Main Hall, obtained funds for modern laboratory equipment including two Atomic Energy
Commission grants, developed programs in Electronics Technology, Mechanical Technology, Chemical Technology, and
Drafting and Design Technology for the Wheeling Campus (now WVNCC) according to federal guidelines. Designed laboratory
facilities for the Industrial Technology programs and obtained State grants for equipment.
* Beginning in 1966, pioneered the use of digital computers and campaigned for their use on a college-wide basis.
Served on the original computer planning committee.
* Instrumental in the planning of the new Paul N. Elbin Library.
* Volunteered to act as college archivist, established a college archives and acted as college archivist for 32
years.
* Created a college museum and several mini-museums located in various areas around the campus.
* Developed the first computerized elementary physics laboratory in the State of West Virginia.
* As college staff photographer, created a comprehensive stock photography collection consisting of prints, slides,
negatives and digital images. Created a digital imaging studio and film studio for the use of the Department of
Publicity and Publication.
* As Linsly's Archivist, created Linsly's archives and was instrumental in the creation of the Linsly School Museum.
* Authored West Liberty State College, a pictorial history (1837-2000), published in 2001 by Arcadia Press.
* Authored The Linsly School a pictorial history, published in 2003 by Arcadia Press.
* Authored Moundsville, a pictorial history, published in 2004 by Arcadia Press.
* Authored Wheeling Island a pictorial history, published in 2006 by Creative I Impressions.
* Received one of four distinguished service medals given by West Liberty State College,1990.
* Retired from the faculty of West Liberty State College and was awarded the title of "Professor Emeritus"
by a vote of the faculty, 1997.
